Meet Vincent…

Nov 1, 2015 | Meet

Jubilation. The perfect word to describe the way we feel about Little Majlis.

Today, our new platform is live and we couldn’t be more excited to share Little Majlis’ new home with you.

Since the launch of in 2012, there has been a steady stream of changes and updates but this new platform is a culmination of months of work and years of experience and ensures that we’re well prepared to meet the needs of our growing creative community now and moving forward.

What sort of products do you market?

Aromatherapy, Remedies, Well-being & Grooming products, 100% Natural & Handmade!

2. A line up of just some of Mr.Fox’s magic potions (that are much more than just a great smell..)

When and why did you decide to start your own business?
I have been using essential oils as a medicine for myself for 10 years now, I’m not taking anymore any medicine that is not natural, so I know the awesome ability of nature to heal us. With Mr. Fox, I want to encourage people to reconnect with the healing powers of nature in their everyday needs. Mr. Fox is a new brand launched in April. I arrived in Dubai in January and directly decided to go ahead with this idea as I saw a huge market craving natural & organic products. And I guess that when we are on track, the path gets cleared out, so in 1 month after the launch I was taking part of my first event: Arte Market.

What’s the best thing about setting up your own brand?
Freedom, Creativity, Independence! Being able to help others feel better is a true blessing and of course, being your own boss is a lovely feeling.

What are some of the challenges you’ve faced?
Well… Being your own boss can also be a bit tricky. The only person you can blame when things go wrong is yourself. And I’m doing everything by myself. It’s not only creating the recipes, but also designing the labels, printing them, doing the mixes, bottling it, dealing with suppliers, marketing, selling to the markets, …  Being a one man show is not so easy… It takes a lot of energy and of course, most of my time. After that, I still have to find time to cook a nice meal for my lovely girlfriend.

3.  We have been chuckling away at Mr. Fox’s labels – this one certainly grabbed our attention (we were wondering how many ‘cooking dinner’ credits Vincent had to rack up when his girlfriend eyed the text on this…).

What do you love about selling online?
The fact that I can reach people everywhere in the world from my home.

What top tips can you share with other shopkeepers?
Go go go! Don’t hesitate too much before doing stuff, launching a new products or taking any decision. Follow your intuition. It’s just a game, everything is going to be all right.

Where do you source your materials?
90% of the essential oils come from France. I’m really looking for the best quality oils possible, certified organic. And I’m now looking to work directly with small producers. I just found a delicious Fine Lavender from Provence and a yummy Clary Sage!

What sets your products apart?
Me of course ? and the love I put when I’m creating it and making it. I truly believe in energy, the energy of the plants, the energy of humans, the energy of the Universe. So all those energies are mixed in my products, that is what makes it unique! Every bottle is handmade by me, I know, it is crazy but it is true. It is a moment of meditation for me and true giving.

4. Vincent (and a spot of foxy coffee) – the special ingredient in the Mr. Fox success formula!

Where do you get your inspiration to be creative from?
My intuition most of the time. But I also like to get inspired from the others. I like to check what the brands (any kind of domain) I love and respect do, and adapt it to my own brand!

Any exciting news to share?
This month, I’m launching a new grooming product for men: “Oh my beard!”, a luxurious beard oil 100% Organic! So during November, keep movember, keep growing your beard, keep smelling great, felling great and looking great! (keep a look out for it’s in-store arrival here).

Tell us 5 words to describe yourself.
Foxy, Funny, Smart, Traveler, Spiritual…but not too much đŸ˜‰

What’s your favourite colour?
Blue, blue, blue!

5. A potion that is an invitation to meditation (a little spirituality right Vincent – but not too much!)

What’s your favourite film?
I love cinema! It was my previous job in a very recent past life in this life… More than my favourite films, I will talk about my favourite directors: Wong Kar Wai, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Martin Scorsese, Federico Fellini, Ettore Scola and Sidney Lumet.

What are you reading right now?
Le moine et le philosophe’ a discussion between Matthieu Ricard and his father.

When did you last laugh?
With my girlfriend, this morning, having breakfast ?

Who would you most like to meet?

Who would you least like to be stuck in a lift with?
The clown Ronald McDonald.

You’re throwing a fantasy dinner party. Who do you invite, alive, dead, real or ficticious?
Al Pacino and The Dalai Lama.

Do you have any pets?
YES, one cat who’s crying all day, every day! And I don’t know why! If someone can help me to understand him…

6. And even Vincent and his magic potions can’t calm his cat… and here we were thinking Mr. Fox held the answer to all our little problems. We know his cat must be a happy camper in the knowledge that the Mr. Fox products have never been tested on animals, but we have a sneaky suspicion the presence of all those foxes is making him nervous.

What do you think you’d taste like?
For sure something yummy.

What is your golden rule?
Always trust the Universe. It’s logical and magical at the same time!

What is the greatest mystery of the universe?
It’s logical and magical at the same time! All the solutions are in the nature.

How many foreign languages do you speak?
As a French speaker, I have the typical French accent when I speak English. I can also understand Italian and Spanish.

If you could retire tomorrow what would you do?
Relaxing in front of the Mediterranean sea, reading, swimming, drinking wine, meditating about life.

If you won the lottery what would be the first thing that you would buy?
A small house in front of the Mediterranean sea.

And don’t forget that this fantastic Mr.Fox and his magic potions will be in good company alongside Little Majlis at The Change Initiative Pop Up shop.

We happen to think it looks rather pretty – so pop in for a bite to eat and a shop from some top notch local brands!
