For 4,000 years, resource-scarce Bedouin in the Arabian Gulf practiced falconry as a vital form of hunting. A tradition that demanded extraordinary patience, skill and a profound bond between human and bird. Today it is one of the UAE's most honoured traditional sports, celebrated for the Arab values of courage, honour and nobility it embodies, and for its deep connection to nature conservation and respect for animals.

This charm features a falcon resting on a wakir; a perch, in Arabic. Look closely and you'll notice the hood on the falcon's head. In Arabic this is called a burka. Used to keep falcons calm by covering their sight, their strongest sense. Birds don't have an imagination, so when their eyes are covered, whatever is out there simply doesn't exist to them. It's a gesture of care, of trust, of the extraordinary relationship between falconer and falcon that has defined Gulf culture for generations.

Featuring an original illustration by Emirati artist Amna Al Saleh, our falcon charm is handcrafted from sustainably sourced camel and cow leather purchased from a UAE tannery that transforms locally collected hides (a by-product of other industries) into finished leather. No solvents are used in the production process. The hanging loop is made from camel leather cutoffs from our key fobs, making it a beautifully circular, sustainable choice. And once you've finished with it? It's fully biodegradable.

Camel leather isn't easy to come by. Supply is limited, it takes time to source, and it's one of the most luxurious and durable leathers in the world. Which makes this charm all the more special.
