Call for Creatives

Emirati designers, may we have your attention please?

This greeting card features artwork by Emirati designer Amna Al Saleh

We want to work with you

We are looking for Emirati designers, illustrators and creatives to work with us to develop graphics that will be used on both our in house retail collection and on our corporate projects. You get to do the fun designs and we bring them to life through product development to create items that are inspired by the heritage and culture of the region and presented through a contemporary lens - truly authentic UAE gifts.

What are we looking for?

Have questions about the process?

  • Work will be project based. We will review our data base of designers and find a good match, and then send out a brief and expression of interest for you to respond to.

  • You just need to have design talent, be a good communicator and a desire to showcase your skills on Little Majlis products!

  • Absolutely! As creatives ourselves, design skills are important and valuable. You can review the brief we issue you and respond with your design fees, and payment terms. We typically work on a fixed fee basis for clearly defined deliverables within a set timeframe.

  • Of course. Ideally we would like to meet you once, so we can discuss your experience, how you like to work and what you hope to achieve from collaborating with Little Majlis. This helps manage everyones expectations and ensures we can help foster your talent and skills. But most communication will be kept to emails and checking in over the phone.

  • Each design brief and terms may vary but generally it will include, but not be limited to, the following:

    1. Project Scope and Deliverables

    • Defined Deliverables: A precise list of what is included (e.g., "3 icon graphics - camel, gazelle, palm tree," "final files in AI, PNG, PDF").
    • Exclusions: Stating what is not included to prevent scope creep.
    • Revision Limits: Stating the number of revision rounds included in the fee (e.g., three rounds of revisions). Further revisions are treated as additional, chargeable work.
    • Project Timeline: An estimated schedule with milestones. Little Majlis and the Designer must follow the timeline; any changes to be agreed on from both sides in writing.

    2. Fees and Payment Terms

    • Fixed Fee: The total agreed-upon amount for the project.
    • Advance payment: Typically 50% of stage 1 initial sketches
    • Milestone Payments: For larger projects, payments may be broken down into phases.
    • Final Payment: The remaining balance is due prior to the release of final high-resolution files.

    3. Change Management (Scope Creep)

    • Change Order Process: Any request for work outside the original scope to be documented and billed separately as a new fixed fee.
    • Additional Charges: Costs for third-party items (fonts etc) requested for inclusion by Little Majlis are not included in the design fee, and will be paid by Little Majlis

    4. Cancellation/Incomplete project and Kill Fee

    • Kill fee: If the project is cancelled midway, Little Majlis shall pay a “kill fee” that is a % of the total design fee
    • Client cancellation / postponement: If Little Majlis chooses to cancel and/or postpone the project; the Client is solely responsible, all payment made is non-refundable
    • Client cancellation: Upon cancellation, all designs created that have not been paid for are owned by The Designer; in case Little Majlis wishes to use any part of the designs, the full payment is required as mentioned in the agreed proposal.
    • Designer breach: If the designer fails to deliver the full design works as specified under the project brief, all designs partially / fully paid for under the project are owned by Little Majlis

    5. Intellectual Property (IP) and Ownership

    • Retention of Rights: The designer retains full ownership of all designs, concepts, and draft materials until payment is received.
    • Transfer of Rights: Upon payment, the rights to the deliverables are assigned to the client.
    • Unused Concepts: The Designer has the right to reuse preliminary sketches or ideas, that were not developed into the final approved designs for the client under this brief, in future work.
    • Portfolio Rights: The designer is allowed to present the work developed under this project in their portfolio for promotional use only with pre-approval from Little Majlis (for some of our corporate clients this is not possible)
    • Little Majlis Assets: Any artwork or graphic elements shared by Little Majlis to the designer, belong to Little Majlis and can not be used by the designer for any work outside the scope of this project. Any brand assets, artwork or graphic elements shared Little Majlis to the designer, belong to Little Majlis and can not be shared to any third party without Little Majlis' written permission.
    • Graphic adjustments: Little Majlis reserves the right to make adjustments to the graphics developed under this project. For example, but not limited to, adjustment of colours, and format to suit different product shapes and/or print mediums.

    6. Design Credit

    • Little Majlis retail products: Any of the Little Majlis in-house collection retail products that utilize the designs developed under this project, will be credited to the designer on the associated packaging. Credit will be the designers full name, and not a business / logo.
    • Corporate products: The client may use the designs developed under this project on their corporate projects / third party product development. The client will encourage these corporate partners to credit the designer, but this may not always be possible.

  • We want to showcase your talent far and wide. Where ever possible you will be credited on product packaging for our retail collection. We encourage our corporate partners to do the same, and most value this (often Little Majlis branding is removed and the designers credit retained!).

  • The brief will define this, but typically any artwork created and paid for under the scope of work will be owned and used exclusively by Little Majlis, and their corporate clients, for use on products, packaging and will form part of the Little Majlis brand assets.

For some projects exclusivity may not be necessary, but this will always be determined at the outset of the project.

  • We really hope so!

Life is short and we like to be open and honest with our creative partners so we can all enjoy the creative process.

We would love to showcase more Arabic language and Emirati storytelling elements on our products. So while some design projects will be quite defined, others will be more open, allowing you a much broader range of creative freedom.

Little Majlis will be available throughout the design process to guide the designer and provide feedback as and when required.

  • Please full out the contact form below, providing as much information as possible and we'll get back to you.

We can't wait to work with you.
