Postcard – Abu Dhabi botanicals
Abu Dhabi. الإمارات العربية المتحدة. United Arab Emirates
This postcard features indigenous UAE botanical illustrations by Emirati designer Alia Al Hammadi, printed on natural kraft card with dark grey botanical silhouettes. The emirate name and United Arab Emirates in Arabic are printed in gold foil. The reverse side of the postcard features illustrated plant species with their Arabic and English names, alongside a traditional postcard layout with space for your message, address and stamp.
You don't often think of plants being indigenous to the UAE, but many species thrive in what would otherwise be considered challenging conditions, and this postcard showcases 4 special species. The Ghaf tree, with its long tap root, is the national tree of the UAE and a historic symbol of stability and peace in the desert environment. The Tribulus Omanense is the UAE's national flower. The Tamarix nilotica and Ziziphus spina-christi complete the collection, both hardy species that have thrived in the region for centuries. Visit the desert or mountain areas a few months after rainfall and you'll spot a sea of green as dormant species come alive.
