he UAE is going to the Moon. And this time, Rashid is landing.

In 2022, the UAE launched its first lunar mission, the Rashid Rover, built entirely by an Emirati team at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre. The landing attempt in 2023 was unsuccessful but the mission still made history as the first Arab spacecraft to enter lunar orbit, and the UAE kept its ambitions high. Sheikh Mohammed met the team the very next day and announced the second mission.

Now Rashid Rover 2 is ready. Developed entirely in the UAE, tested, shipped to the United States, and scheduled to launch aboard Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lander in 2026. The destination: the far side of the Moon, making the UAE one of only a handful of countries ever to attempt it. A country that built its space sector from scratch in a decade, driven entirely by the talent of its own youth.
