Description
This unique design featuring the date palm (phoenix dactylifera) and the local falcon is inspired by ‘Al Sadu’, a traditional weaving technique practiced by Bedouin women of the UAE. The craft was one of the most valuable economic contributors made by women and played a central role in the life of the community. Because of Sadu’s significance, it was inscribed in 2011 on the UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding.
The Sadu tag on this bag was made by hand by Emirati artisans based in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.
The design has been screen printed in black and heat sealed on the front for durability. The tote is made in a hard-wearing natural off-white coloured 100% cotton canvas fabric, and features a small set of carry handles and a larger single adjustable cross body strap with silver tone hardware. This is an excellent unisex bag that can be adjusted so it can be used comfortably for all heights.
The tote measures approximately 35cm wide x 41cm height, with a gusset to the base.
Made in United Arab Emirates.
